Family Connections<\/h2>\n

Qualicum Manor<\/strong> actively supports communication and collaboration between families, residents and us in many ways. One formal and documented method is through family and resident councils. At Qualicum Manor we call this group \u2019Community Connect\u2019<\/p>\n

What is a family and resident council?<\/h3>\n

A\u00a0Resident\u00a0and\/or\u00a0Family\u00a0Council\u00a0is a group of persons who either live in a\u00a0long-term care\u00a0(LTC)\u00a0home,\u00a0their families,\u00a0and\/or\u00a0the residents\u2019\u00a0representative,\u00a0who meet regularly\u00a0to maintain and enhance the quality of life of residents in LTC. Councils exist to engage the resident community\u00a0and\u00a0to\u00a0improve the experiences of all residents, by\u00a0providing their insights and advice and represent the\u00a0collective\u00a0interests of residents<\/p>\n

One of the key roles that a\u00a0Resident\u00a0and\/or\u00a0Family\u00a0Council\u00a0can play is to promote improved communication and collaboration between\u00a0residents,\u00a0family members,\u00a0LTC\u00a0staff, and management.\u00a0 This may involve working collaboratively on projects that enrich the lives of\u00a0residents, making recommendations to decision makers, and communicating common concerns and ideas for improvements.<\/p>\n

At Qualicum Manor we meet about 3 times per year as a group. We celebrate our successes, identify opportunities and build relationships based on safety, diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n

Our meetings are minuted and these minutes are sent to each family by email. They are also available on the board in the main corridor. A copy can be printed and given to you at any time.<\/p>\n

Agendas are set collaboratively so if you have some ideas that would like to be heard, come along.<\/p>\n

We advertise the meetings well in advance.<\/p>\n
