The Qualicum Manor Story
Qualicum Manor has been welcoming residents requiring long-term, complex care since it opened its doors in 2005. Owners Lynn Aarvold and Tina Ngobi envisioned a senior care residence characterized by warmth and a family atmosphere. Nestled into the heart of the quiet and picturesque Town of Qualicum Beach, we have created a community that caters to our residents’ diverse needs with love, dignity, and respect. Over the years, Qualicum Manor has developed a strong reputation on a variety of fronts.
We are known for retaining a dedicated staff who work to the highest possible standards and love their jobs. Our residents enjoy a rich quality of life filled with engaging activities and cherished relationships. Our administration is known for its responsiveness to the concerns of family members and community members. And above all, our ability to meet the individual care needs of a wide range of people is second to none. We are proud of our standing in the Qualicum Beach community and we look forward to serving its senior care needs for years to come.
Our Team Leaders

Lynn has spent her whole career advocating for resident centered care.
Tina Ngobi

Melanie Young
Administrator
I am lucky to have lots of experience as an organizational leader, and I’ve worked in management in acute and long term care for a long time. I hope I competently and creatively manage the financial, operational, human resource and legislative part of my work. I have been grateful for my Registered Nurse License to practice. Right now it’s like a superpower 🙂
I have unraveled my goals over the years and now simply do my very best to ensure that the people I serve – other staff, residents and patients, families and my local community – have the tools, skills and best possible education so that everyday actions and both small and big decisions are made in safe, respectful surroundings.
I try to create and co create ways of working that have the least institutional impact.
I am grateful for the mindset shift conversations that allow us to acknowledge the issues within institutional care such as loneliness and isolation, and, how ageism and ableism influence this.
I want to work with like minded people and I value the thoughts of those around me who guide, challenge and inspire.
I appreciate the opportunity to work in an ever changing world where the ability to shift and pivot is literally life saving.
If I’m honest I’m often amazed at the courage it takes to show up every day and still want to be part of the conversation around our collective, current experience of healthcare. Likely it’s because the honour of being part of something so much bigger than self, is rich and it matters.
Here’s to healthcare workers everywhere, showing up, being seen and navigating their own lives while being utterly involved in the care of others.
Dr. Clair Biglow
Medical Director
Dr. Biglow has been with Qualicum Manor for over 16 years. He is well known and regarded in the community. We feel very fortunate to have him on our team. Many of our Residents had Dr. Biglow as their family doctor, so when they move into our community of care, its one less ‘change’ they have to face. Dr. Biglow visits weekly and attends all care conferences. He is very responsive to our residents needs and because of this continuum of care; hospitalization and needless visits to emergency are avoided.
